Buying a Business with Real Estate in Belize
How to review assets, contracts, employees, licenses, financials and the property component of a Belize business sale.
Define the transaction
Clarify whether you are buying company shares, selected business assets, the real estate, or a combination. Each structure has different liability, tax, licensing and closing implications.
Create a written inventory of furniture, equipment, vehicles, intellectual property, deposits, prepaid bookings, contracts and licenses. Confirm which items are owned, leased or subject to finance.
Verify sustainable earnings
Reconcile seller claims against tax filings, bank statements, point-of-sale reports, booking records and invoices. Review customer concentration, supplier dependence, staff retention and the owner tasks required to keep the business operating.
Use independent Belize legal and accounting advisers. A property inspection alone cannot identify company liabilities or validate operating profit.
